6.1

Fluoridation of Levin Water Treatment Plant

 

1.       Purpose

1.1     To provide an update and request Council approval on a preferred option for moving forward with the implementation of the Fluoridation programme.

This report directly aligns with one of Council’s top 10 priorities "Get the basics right and support the customer focused delivery of core services"

 

Resolution Number  CO/2023/1

MOVED by Mayor Wanden, seconded Cr Boyle:

3.1     That Report 23/904 Fluoridation of Levin Water Treatment Plant be received.

3.2     That this matter or decision is recognised as not significant in terms of S76 of the Local Government Act.

Officers reported that since the issuing of this agenda, the Ministry of Health had given written approval for the installation of a tap for the supply of non-fluoridated water.

3.3  That Council approve Option 2 to cease implementation of the Fluoridation programme.

 

3.4  The Council direct the Chief Executive to inform the Government that based on the recent 10 Nov Court decision, people matter and local voices matter, and that we want consult with our local community and we wish to recoup our financial costs to date
